Chris Torch is an independent cultural expert, project designer and international cultural policy consultant. Originally an actor and theatre director, Chris Torch expanded his career in the fields of cultural management, production and intercultural action. In 1977 he founded the independent theatre company Jordcirkus, then, in 1993, Shikasta. In 1996 he founded Intercult, a structure that develops numerous international projects in the field of culture and education, and to which he dedicated 14 years as artistic director and general manager. He delivers conferences and workshops around the world, on various topics related to management and cultural strategies. Chris Torch is vicepresident of Culture Action Europe, administrator of the European Museum Forum and member of the board of directors of the River//Cities Platform. Chris Torch coordinated the artistic section of Timișoara’s application for the European Capital of Culture in 2021, in the StartUp phase (2017-2019), after having previously worked on the applications for the European Capital of Culture in Matera (2019) and Rijeka (2020).
