Sergiu Musteață is a historian, professor and dean of the Faculty of History and Geography of the “Ion Creangă” State Pedagogical University of Moldova. He is also the founder and president of the National Association of Young Historians of Moldova. A former Fulbright fellow at the University of Maryland (US) in 2007, Sergiu Musteață continued his studies at the Universities of Berkeley and Stanford, both in the state of California. He holds a PhD from the Faculty of History of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, Iași. He is the author of  6 monographs, of over 200 scientific publications, editor of 15 books and of the Annual Review of the Young Historian. His main academic interests are: history of South-Eastern Europe, preservation of cultural heritage and analysis of history textbooks. History education, especially education through history textbooks in Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine are the main topics he tackles in his contribution to the conference.
